So called because of the ceiling decorated with frescoes which recall the embroidered bedspreads of the past. The first room painted in shades of yellow, has two single beds and a delightful little cream and bronze coloured en-suite shower. This room leads on to the second room, painted in shades of green, which has a double bed with an inlaid wooden headboard.
So called because of the 18th century frescoes on the ceiling depicting a series of pairs of lions, brought to light during the refurbishment. The bed is made of wrought iron designed to resemble the models of the able 18th century blacksmiths of Pienza (an enchanting medieval town to the south of Siena). The bedroom is endowed with a splendid (non-functioning) fireplace which was discovered and restored during the refurbishment.
This is the most …. “Tuscan” of the rooms and is the only one to have the typical wooden-beamed ceiling with the bed in the so called “grandmother” style made of red wrought iron.. and the outline of a once-existing window discovered during the refurbishment. The tones of red and the wooden beams give this room the most “intimate” atmosphere.
Its name is due to the fresco depicting an Angel woman, flying over the skies of Siena, whose ancient profile can be seen in the background. The delicate decoration of an ivy crown was found and recovered under the sill of the large window. The two wrought iron beds, expertly restored, can be joined into a double bed. It has a bathroom in shades of blue.
The two suites are composed by two rooms and one bathroom and are the ideal solution for those looking for comfort and for families, accommodating up to four people.
Each room is enriched by Art Nouveau style decorations and frescoes dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries and are furnished with antique furniture and wrought iron and hand-forged beds. The mattresses are waterlily, a special material that gives a particular comfort.
It owes its name to the beautiful ceiling of the first of the two rooms of which it is composed, in which four countryside and seaside landscapes are depicted. This room, which contains a comfortable sofa-bed, leads into a room with a hand-forged wrought iron bed. The walls are decorated with geometric designs, like stylized papyrus, in shades of green and yellow. A small door leads to the large en-suite bathroom covered with Vietri tiles.
Totally frescoed with patterns of the “Art Nouveau” period and furnished in the same style; the magical atmosphere of this room is enhanced by an 18th century style four-poster bed forged by the able blacksmiths of Pienza.
It owes its name to the bouquet of roses and cornflowers represented in the middle of the ceiling frescoed with late 19th century decorations brought to light by the patient restoration.
It has two big windows to let in the daylight which illuminates it. The two skilfully restored wrought iron beds can be united to form a double bed.
